Overview

In Amargeti, monuments dedicated to the heroes Socrates Hatzievangelou, Athanasios Georgiou and Arrestis Panagiotou and to the missing person Giannakis Georgiou were created. Athanasios Georgiou fell on the day of the coup in the Archbishopric in the line of duty defending the Republic. Giannakis Georgiou has been missing since the summer of 1974, a tragic consequence of the Turkish invasion. Arestis Panagiotou fell fighting against the Turkish invaders in Klepini of Kyrenia on the 22nd of August 1974.
